No April Fools Joke
During dinner last night the subject of Mother’s Day came up and what would I like this year. Maybe it was because this adult child of mine has talent in music and in filming & editing. “Jaws” the musical-- was my answer.

Family Stress
Remember the sister of mine who insisted I needed to have a 50th birthday party??? Well, this same sister organized a Girl Scout craft class at my Aunt’s doll shop. This sister is not creative or crafty. She called me and strongly suggested because of my creativity I needed to be there to help. Of course I forcefully told her the timing wasn’t good for Tommy and I. Sorry but no, I can’t do it.
The Aunt, who owns the doll shop, without me knowing, Called by parents and asked them if they’d watch Tommy so I could go help. This Aunt then called me telling me how she lined up a babysitter so I could be to her shop at 4 on Thursday. (today)
Yesterday the parents stopped by to see how to help with Tom. Getting him in his wheelchair off the school bus then into the house. We worked on using a lift to get him out of the wheelchair and into his bed. Then it's changing his diapers without hurting their backs. A quick lesson on to what kind and how much formula, and how much of which medicines to give. A recap on tube feeding. By then you could tell my parents were very overwhelmed and wished they had told this Aunt "no".
Sorry but how could I go and help Girl Scouts?? I could use the help here! Help here is next to impossible to get. Told parent not to worry; I'm just not going.

Spring is in the air
We've been befriending and feeding the Eastern Bluebirds meal worms all winter long. Most bluebirds do fly south for the winter but more and more are returning. The males are bright blue in color, while the females are dull. Now we are getting more and more bluebirds and the robins are here too fighting for food.

Life
It’s long, but because I write about everything and every one else…here I go
Its noon and I’m still in my pajamas. Yesterday I stopped at Tom’s school while there I notice his finger nails were pale in color. He seemed fine, but when I left school, I gave him a kiss and said “you better not be getting sick.”
Yesterday evening about 7 it started. First it was Tom just fussing. By 9 he cried, by 10 it was crying uncontrollable that his breathing was funny. Everyone was up and out of bed and NOTHING worked in trying to comfort him. Adult strength Tylenol that usually knocks him out; did little for him. He didn’t have a fever.
We were very concerned about Tom and thought about taking him to the hospital, especially with his funny breathing during persistently and uncontrollable crying spells. It was obvious something was wrong, but what?? In the past when Thomas has cried in pain like this; we have taken him to the hospital. Being that Tom doesn’t talk and can’t point to where it hurts. The doctor’s look to us for the answers, for his blood work and x-rays don’t show where the problem is. At the hospital we end up just loosing time, money, and getting no help for Tom. That is cause us more stress and anxiety than just trying different things with him at home.
Mark and Don when to bed with their doors closed and the TV on to drown out the noise. At 4 Tom was settling down and I went to bed. Don and Mark got up. Little by little Tom quieted down and for the moment he is resting
We have one young adult for sale! Thomas John will be 22 years old on Saturday and today we will gladly donate him to you.
The rest of the story…Don is having a heart test on Friday, so as of noon yesterday; it’s no caffeine until after the test. With not much sleep last night and getting up early today I know he wants coffee.
Most of you know that Laura was born with 3 kidneys. She has a normal kidney on the right and two smaller kidneys on the left side, one above the other. Twice now I have had blood in my urine. (Can’t see it, just told it was there) Yesterday I had an ultrasound done on my kidneys I was told the test would take a half hour but I was in and out of there in no time. Hoping that’s a good sign. I only have 2 kidneys. I was disappointed.

Our Visit

Tom was our babysitter until he started licking Austin's hair. I think he liked the taste of the shampoo that was used. Yes, Tom did try to take a bite out of Austin's head and that ended his babysitting serves.

Dear Austin, you look just like your Uncle Mark did at your age. You may grow up to look a lot like him. Do you think Austin will get Mark's big curly mop of fast growing hair?

This is Georgia's favorite outfit to wear. She calls it her "swimming soup" I brought her another bathing suit, but it's not the same, so this is what she wants to wear 24/7. Grandma who loves to spoil her grandkids, can you believe this, actually at one point in time hid this bathing suit from her!

You're never to young to start learning how to tube feed. Georgia is now a big helper. Most kids, sorry not adults, love to help me tube feed Tommy.

They are so adorable. Austin is a very happy baby. Georgia is almost totally potty trained. Casey did get Mark and Don to help him out with pig duties. Laura has her hands full and yet still cooked yummy dinners. Can't wait to go back to Nearly Green Acres!

Heart and Stress
Don’s all important doctor’s appointment was at 1pm yesterday. It was close to 3:30 before we were called back to see doctor. Don had an ultrasound of his heart and an electrocardiogram done. Hooray!! Luckily Don’s heart on its own popped back into normal rhythm. For the time being he’s been put on coumadin, it an anticoagulant used to prevent blood clots. Don will need blood work done at the lab at least twice a week. Oh, boy! even more lab fun. Don is also getting a cardiolet stress test (3½ hour test) in March. The hospital is to call on Monday with a date for a sleep study.
I have a sister whom seems to think that it’s extremely important that I do something special this weekend for my 50th birthday. She keeps calling me. She wants me to have a party or for her to take me out to dinner. (The funny part was she wanted my other sister and her with their new boyfriends to take me out! What about my husband??? Not a word was said about him!!) I hate to be a pain in the ass, but that’s not for me. Turning 50 is no big deal; it’s a milestone that everyone will hit if you live long enough. Celebrating your milestone anniversaries is much harder more difficult thing and fewer couples are making to them. It’s something that I’ve been proud to put my time, effort and energy into. When Don and I celebrated our 25 wedding anniversary, it was a time where things were crazy like they are now, Don was in the hospital having back surgery. The only people who even noticed were our kids and parents.
