Christmas Disaster!!

We celebrated our family Christmas party December 23 of this year at the Le&@cy in Ottawa Lake, Michigan. It was a wonderful party until the family started getting into the hot tub. It first started with the youngest in the hot tub, then work it way up by size. Even Don was terrible affected by his short time in this hot tub.
As family began getting their swimming suits on and stepping into the tub, there were complains of the smell and the water looking funny. With in a short time the youngest in the water started uncontrollable crying. Followed by complains from the older girls. Their skin
hurting and their private area burning.
You can see from the new Christmas Pig Towel that I wrapped Georgia in, there were way to many chemicals in the hot tub water. This was a gift she had opened this morning.
Even after a shower at there and a baking soda bath at home, Georgia still had signs that there was way too many chemicals in that hot tub. My husband would not let me take pictures of his private, but he too has lots to complain about. Georgia wore one of those diaper bathing suits. This horrible rash was around her waist and of the diaper and the legs of the diaper. She did not sleep well last night at all.

The holy man

First you pick out Godparents.

Don't they together look sweet, innocent and holy?

The baby had water poured over his head and
then we bit the baby's fingers.

Mark is thinking of food.
Case is wondering how much longer
Laura would rather be nursing then giving a bottle
Stephie wants to hold the baby.

It's all over. Church photo time.
Seconds later the baby started crying.

Merry Christmas

Hope this Christmas morning finds you with a big smile upon your face. The chance to hold and hug someone you love. In a room filled with smiles and laughter.
May this coming New Year you find the inner child in you. Brave and happy to wear something no one else in the room would wear and loving it.

Thank you for your prayers

Hooray!! Hooray! Hooray! Tom does NOT have aplastic anemia. On Friday Tom is getting more blood testing and an intense look at his platelets, but the doctor believes at this time nothing looks terrible or life threatening to him.
Let’s celebrate!!!

Felbatol

As most of you know trying to control Tommy epilepsy was impossible. We would give him medicine and the seizures would stop or slow up for only a brief period of time, only to return full force, seizures were daily occurrences. Often Thomas was hospitalized to change drugs. During a hospital stay, when we thought we had his seizures well controlled, he was hooked to an EEG for more then 24 hours. Throughout that EEG, it was well documented that there were only 3 times went he went more that 8 minutes between his seizures, most of the time he was having one seizure after another. How is he to learn anything with seizures relentlessly interrupting his concentration?
After trying every anti-convulsive on the market, we even tried ACTH steroid injections. Nothing worked well, until 1993 when the drug Felbatol was introduced. Two days after starting to take this drug, Thomas seizures dropped and his awareness and responsiveness increased. He became more aware of his surroundings, more responsive, started showing likes and dislikes. It was wonderful until….
The following spring/summer, warnings were flying about this drug, Felbatol and it causing aplastic anemia, where your body stops producing new blood cells and caused people to die. Doctors were advised that their patients should stop taking the drug. I begged, I pleaded to keep my son on this drug. I wanted quality of live over quantity. Most doctors believed that the constant seizures would take his life anyways.
Fourteen years later Tom is still taking Felbatol for his seizures with great achievements and very few seizures; we believe without that drug, he wouldn’t be here today. But there are too few people on the drug to know about its long term use and its fatality rate or to identify those factors. So it is not known whether or not the risk of developing aplastic anemia changes with its use.
This is where I need your prayers, lately Tommy has been going through stages, were he’ll go for a few days to a week or more and bruise easy, be pale in color, sleepy and look terrible and then he gets better. This are signs that he maybe developing aplastic anemia. On the 10 of December we are seeing a blood specialist to have this check out. Let’s just hope it’s an enlarge liver or something treatable.

G is just like her mommy

When my daughter was young she insisted upon dressing herself and picking out her own clothes. So it was no surprise when G brought in this outfit to wear. G has a favorite green shirt, Laura had a favorite "Mary dress".

Just like her mother too, G likes to change her clothes often through out the day. 4/5 outfits a day is nothing. Another way she is like her mother too is that no matter the temperature inside or outside, they dressed with "less is best" and love it outside.

They both at this age had long attention spans. G sat at the table and colored in her book while I French braided her hair. I am not fast at that, this took a while and she never complained or fussed.

Here is another way they are alike. Wanting to be like an adult and try to do what she sees grownups doing. Here G took a picture of me and A with my camera. Not bad for a first try.

They both have the same good sense of humor. G is not even two yet and enjoys trying to joke, being silly and making you laugh. I think it's wonderful that they are able to laugh together often

Home, Sweet Home

We arrive home after visiting with the two of the most delightful grandchildren any Grandma could ask for and their parents. G and A did their best to keep me busy this week.

A
likes to snuggle up to anyone. Thomas likes to snuggle too. The two of them worked well snuggling together when I was busy and needed a free hand. Tommy would baby-sit A for me.

G
loves to be outside and loves her pigs. She took me for a walk, a long walk and would go from pig pen to pig pen either calling pigs or trying to climb the gate to climb inside with them.

I was worried that I was going to have to report that the only thing Don shot was a sick pig that couldn’t move. When we first arrived at Laura’s and Don when out bow hunting for deer and saw a huge flock a turkeys. While turkey hunting, only saw deer. Friday morning while gun hunting, Don was able to shoot a doe.

It's Grandma Time

We are here with our Grandchildren. It's such a joy to see them and see how quickly they have grown since we seen them last. The only thing I don't like is the fact that when the grandkids are left alone with me, they all like to have their bm's. I was told A only fills his diaper about once a week. I have changed his stinky diaper daily and today it was so bad, it leaked through his clothes and he needed a bath. It's almost like "Ok, mom is gone to work, it's time to poop." What makes it terrible for me is my own son, Thomas, had a BM during the night and got his hands into his diapers and made a mess EVERYWHERE. Nothing could be more fun that getting up at 1 in the morning to clean up that kind of a mess.
My husband has been faithfully out side hunting. While out hunting deer, he has seen lots of turkeys, while hunting turkeys, he has seen deer. The only thing he has shot so far was a sick pig that couldn't move.
Tomorrow is our Thanksgiving. Can't wait to eat turkey.

Her First Job

My niece is out of town with her family. Today I get a call to say my niece got to try on her clothes, got her hair done and got to meet the woman that is going to play her mom in the Tar&et commercial. We thought she was just going to be some kid in the background, but it sounds like she going to be the foremost kid in the commercial. Filming is tomorrow. Break a leg, Sweetie!!!

Weekend

Our weekend went past so fast

A little girl came over on Saturday.

There was some pumpkin carving going on.

She could pick up pumpkins seeds off the floor with her toes.

Holly joined us for dinner on Sunday

We ate some of Sparks' pork.

Double G had to sit next to Holly during dinner.

Next time we hope Holly brings Andy.

Someone who lives only about a ½ hour away, flew here instead of driving.

Flying in was much more exciting for both her and us.

It was fun watching her check the airplane and take off.

When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.

Halloween

Trick or treat!!

Today is the Special Education Halloween party at school. I took apart a big stuffed Elmo and made a Halloween costume for Thomas out of it. Do you think at the age 21 Tom is to old to be Elmo?

Are you celebrating today?

October 16th of each year is National Boss Day.

The purpose in promoting National Boss Day has been to improve the relationship between employees and their bosses. In particular, younger employees who often do not realize the problems bosses face in running a business.

Common observes of National Boss Day include giving a greeting card, gift, or some other token of appreciation to the "boss" (manager, supervisor or executive). So I think you should show your boss your appreciation by planning a lunch for him/her (no not to poison them)

Differences Between You And Your Boss

If you take a long time, you're slow.
BUT if your boss takes a long time, he's thorough.
If you don't do it, you're lazy.
BUT if your boss doesn't do it, he's too busy.
If you make a mistake, you're an idiot.
BUT if your boss makes a mistake, he's 'only human'.
If you're on a day off sick, you're 'always' sick.
BUT if your boss is a day off sick, he must be very ill.
If you take a stand, you're being bull-headed.
BUT if your boss does it, he's being firm.
If you overlooked a rule of etiquette, you're being rude.
BUT if your boss skips a few rules, he's being original.
If you do something without being told, you're overstepping your authority.
BUT if your boss does the same thing, that's initiative.
If you're out of the office, you're wandering around.
BUT if your boss is out of the office, he's on business.
If you apply for leave, you must be going for an interview.
BUT if your boss applies for leave, it's because he's overworked.

Turducken

When we ordered the turducken, we asked about the stuffing that is normally between each layer of meat. I was told they don’t use stuffing and it would not be made that way. Friday at the store, they apologized for the person in charge of making it, not only added stuffing between each layer he also added a small pork roast inside the boned chicken, that was inside the boned duck, that was inside the boned turkey. So the store gave us a huge discount off the turducken. We ended up getting more of what we wanted for a cheaper price!!
The butcher that made the turducken was so proud of his work. After he showed it off to everyone in the store, he insisted that he carry it out to our car for us. He gleamed with pride that we almost had to pry the birds out of his hands.
Last year for Mark’s birthday we had turkey, and what was suppose to be dinner for 3 ended up being a dinner with a house full uninvited dinner guest, with no leftovers. So yesterday with less then an hour until dinner was done, if you could have seen the look on Mark’s face when an Aunt and Uncle showed up at our door and another relative driving passed. After they left and grandparents arrived, Mark was taking no chances and he locked all the doors.
The turducken was exceptionally moist and tasted fantastic. The seasoning from the stuffing seeps into the meats for a great taste. Everyone loved it. Even the grandparents enjoyed the flavor and ask Mark to do this again on his next birthday if not for this Christmas. It was hard for most of us to distinguish the different meats, they all tasted wonderful. We can’t wait to eat the leftovers for supper tonight.
